MINI MARVELS · FOR ARK MENTORS
Stories, play, and shared discoveries turn English into something children use with one another. You guide the conversation without taking it over.
A child may know the words and still hesitate to join in.
Mini Marvels gives younger learners a story, a shared problem, or something playful to notice. Your job is to help each child turn that spark into a question, an explanation, or an idea for the group.
Watch for a gesture, a new word, or a quiet reaction worth bringing into the conversation.
Try: “What did you notice?”
Make the next step small enough to try, then leave enough time for the child to answer.
Try: “Show us one part.”
Pass one child’s idea to another so the group makes meaning together.
Try: “Who can add to that?”
You are not racing through content. Across Mini Marvels, children gradually move from reacting to what they see to explaining, connecting, and reconsidering their ideas.
“I see a dog.”
“Why did it happen?”
“It is hiding because it is scared.”
“Now I think it may be hurt.”
The examples show how a response can grow over time. Children may move through the stages at different speeds.
The slide is a starting point, not a script.
Use the visual, prompt, and activity to open a path into the group. Follow the children’s ideas when they reveal a better question than the one on screen.
Give children one thing to think about at a time.
Thinking time is part of participation.
Invite a second child to add, compare, or ask.
The activities change. The underlying rhythm stays familiar, so children know how to join, take a risk, and return to the group.
Invite children to greet one another and ask a simple question.
“Who would you like to ask?”
Use a character, image, or situation to give the group something to care about.
“What is happening here?”
Let each child add one detail, choice, or new possibility.
“What should happen next?”
Make room for different answers and the reasons behind them.
“What makes you think that?”
Draw, move, choose, or solve on a shared canvas.
“Whose idea could we add?”
Help children notice what the group tried, changed, or learned.
“What did our team do well?”
Close with a short game that keeps English moving until goodbye.
“One last challenge?”
You receive the session plan before class. Review the purpose, anticipate where children may need support, then teach the group in front of you.
Stories, prompts, and collaborative activities keep the whole group oriented.
Learning goals, question prompts, timings, and notes for common moments.
Short phrases and a pre-class activity help younger learners arrive ready to join.
MINI MARVELS MENTORS
You do not need to perform for fifty minutes. You need to notice the group.
